From Fear to Faith

The Lemon Drop: Embracing the Unknown

Do you often find yourself hesitating due to fear of the uncertain and the unknown? It's time to confront these fears and move forward with faith and confidence.

In this Lemon Drop, we'll dive deep into the nature of fear, particularly anxiety about the future and the unknown. Let's explore how these fears can hold us back and discover strategies to overcome them.

The Slice: From Fear to Faith

I used to live in nothing but fear personally and professionally. I felt stuck in a life that never felt authentic to me. I was unhappy overall, my relationships suffered and I felt more lost than ever. What I valued, believed in and who I wanted to become was a giant blur because I was scared to make any changes.

The anxiety from the “what ifs”, unknown outcomes and possible scenarios I played in my head crippled me for a long time. Until it didn't. I made moves with no real direction except confidence in myself to start living a more intentional life and without the fear I felt having any sort of control. With $900 and boundless uncertainty, I left that stuck life behind. It was liberating.

What I now acknowledge about fear…it is a powerful emotion. Often it's the fear of the unknown that keeps us stuck. In the past I feared everything that had not happened yet, might never happen and was all out of my control. I was paralyzed by possibilities ultimately only holding me back from opportunities.

My fear of the unknown really meant I feared the future. An essential understanding for me was acknowledging by fearing the future, I was doubting the outcome of something that was not even real yet. To take this to the root…since I was doubting outcomes, I was really doubting my faith.

I now know fear should be felt, but it should not hinder responses. If it is not present, you do not feel deep enough about it to take risks or learn to get comfortable being uncomfortable. The way you learn to find comfort in these opportunities through faith.

The Squeeze: Conquering Fear Through Action

To overcome the fear of uncertainty, we must take action. Start by setting a daily goal for yourself, something that pushes you out of your comfort zone. Embrace the unknown as an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. By confronting these fears head-on, you not only gain a deeper understanding of yourself but also open doors to new possibilities you might have never imagined.

Practical Pointers: Embrace the Journey

  1. Daily Action: Challenge yourself to take one action each day that pushes you beyond your comfort zone.

  2. Reframe Your Thoughts: Shift your perspective from fear to curiosity. What exciting opportunities might the unknown hold?

  3. Mindfulness and Meditation: Practices like mindfulness and meditation can help you stay present and reduce anxiety about the future.

  4. Reflect and Learn: Take time to reflect on your experiences. What did you learn from stepping into the unknown? Is faith present?

  5. Seek Support: Share your fears and aspirations with a friend or mentor who can offer guidance and encouragement.

The Sip: Embrace the Journey, Not the Fear

As you embark on your journey of embracing the unknown, remember that life is an adventure. Embrace the uncertainty as part of the thrill. Each step you take into the unknown is a step towards personal growth and the discovery of new opportunities. If you find yourself doubting outcomes, ask yourself where you are missing faith.
