Breaks or unproductivity used to be two words I did not utilize in my vocabulary. When they would come up, so would guilt. I used to feel like I always had to be doing something, going somewhere or constantly chipping away at my to do list. What ended up being the result of this was burn out.
I reflected deeply on this concept on my most recent vacation with my sister to the Maldives. The islands of the Maldives are truly as much of a dream and as serene as you would imagine. The pictures do not even do the place justice. It is so peaceful and secluded, so there is no opportunity to be busy. I was fortunate to be able to work through the final edits of my book in this beautiful place. I felt incredibly refreshed and with a big year ahead I set boundaries to ensure I avoid burnout.
There truly is a transformative power of incorporating intentional breaks into our routines. Each day should not be solely defined by constant productivity but one that acknowledges the value of rest as a catalyst for creative insights and breakthrough moments. This mantra is what I am prioritizing.
